Gómez González administró el Santuario de Mariposas El Rosario y abogó ferozmente contra la tala ilegal. Trágicamente, su dedicación provocó su misteriosa muerte en 2020, lo que generó sospechas de juego sucio. Shoutout to Abigail Farrell, J.O. Kelley EAST Teacher, the September 2024 Springdale Spotlight winner! The winning photo was captured during a macroinvertebrate identification event. Students from J.O. Kelly EAST collaborated with the Illinois River Watershed Partnership to study local streams. The EAST Students have been working with the IRWP since 2018, examining streams near Silent Grove Rd., and researching habitat, macroinvertebrates, and land use. The October Springdale Spotlight winner will be announced on Oct. 23!
