Bravery Bracelets
Early April, 9th graders in the TOP program at Central and Southwest Junior High Schools made handmade bracelets and positive notes for persons living in transitional housing. Students learned about the importance of having these facilities in our community and why we should help build each other up. The community service was partnered with a lesson on learning from our mistakes and being resilient. Students donated 200 bracelets and notes to local organizations (Nicole's House, NWA Women's Shelter, and Peace at Home Shelter).
One TOP student wrote this note with their bracelet:
“I am so beyond proud of you! In my TOP class we have learned that you have to fail to succeed, so my message for you is to keep fighting! You are so loved!”

Springdale Har-Ber High School had a school record 43 All-State choir selections, more than any school in the state. In fact, Har-Ber choir director Clint Pianalto thinks 43 may be the most ever by any school in Arkansas but he hasn't been able to verify that yet. Competition was done virtually so in order to celebrate the amazing accomplishment by their choir students, Pianalto and Michael Brown hosted lunch, serving Cane's chicken, and provided t-shirts that said, "I made all-state during a pandemic." Har-Ber's choir will present "Let My Love Be Heard" April 29 at 7 pm in the Marsha Jones Performing Arts Center. Family members of seniors will be given first priority to reserve seats. Remaining seats will be made available to junior and sophomore parents. #THEChoice

Sonora Middle School held their Renaissance Dinner party Friday, April 9 in Mrs. Heidi Cohen's class. It is a culminating event for my third quarter Quest for Salt. This project has the students travel around Europe, the far east, and Africa. All the while, relaying what they learned through their travels to Queen Cohen.
In the Mind Your "Manors" activity they researched a person from the Renaissance, wrote a monologue, created a poster and prop to share at the dinner. The dinner is then held to honor the Quest for Salt Traveler and wrap up the Middle Ages unit.
Thank you so much for sharing with us!
