The Springdale Public Schools School Board met Sept. 9, 2025.
Regular monthly School Board meetings are held at 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the District Administration Building at 804 W. Johnson Ave.

International Baccalaureate Recipients
The School Board celebrated Springdale's International Baccalaureate diploma candidates at the September meeting.
The diploma program is for students ages 16-19 and offers an internationally accepted qualification for university entrance, with successful graduates often earning advanced placement at universities.
Isaac Amaya
Future Plans: Land Summer Internships/Graduate with B.S.E.E./ R&D Innovator
What I Learned: Being in IB taught me essential skills for thriving both academically and socially. I learned how to manage my time effectively, communicate confidently as a leader and advocate for my peers with empathy and purpose.
High School Extracurriculars: President of SHS Student Ambassadors/Community Service Officer for NHS/Chamber Choir and Unity/Theater/SHS Programming Team
Lizeth Hernandez Alanis
Future Plans: Masters degree in speech language pathology to become an SLP
What I Learned: Being a part of IB helped me learn how to be more open minded and organized. These skills were important to utilize not only in class with assignments but also out of the classroom in my day to day routine. IB overall taught me to become a well rounded learner with the skills to prepare for college while also continuing to collaborate with others and creating strong friendships.
High School Extracurriculars: National Honor Society, Senior Class Council and Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club.
Julian Ledesma
Future Plans: Studying Business Economics with plans to pursue an MBA and scale my family’s ice cream shop into a larger enterprise
What I Learned: IB taught me how to manage my time under pressure, think critically, and balance multiple responsibilities. I learned the importance of persistence and discipline, especially while running my family’s business alongside school. I also learned the value of staying open-minded and building strong friendships.

Glenn Noland
Future Plans: Studying Cybersecurity at UChicago and use my 3 years of guaranteed paid internships
What I Learned: IB taught me how to manage my time, think critically, and approach challenges with resilience. The program strengthened my research and problem-solving skills while encouraging me to see issues from different perspectives.

Future Plans: Earn a college degree studying Electrical Engineering
What I Learned: IB helped me to develop many academic and social skills such as time management, open mindedness, communication with my peers, and balancing everything going on in life.

Brooke Saylors
Future Plans: Studying biology to become a scientist-physician
What I Learned: IB has taught me the value of the people you surround yourself with, and the importance of emotional support from peers, friends, and educators. Having such amazing teachers and a good mentor was a large part of what helped me succeed both academically and mentally.

Arisa Health Community Service Award
The School Board congratulated Springdale Schools Executive Director of Student Services Damon Donnell, who was honored with the 2025 Community Service Award in recognition of his work and dedication to facilitating behavioral health supports for Springdale families.
“It’s an incredible honor,” Donnell said. “It's something that I'm super passionate about, ensuring all students, staff and family members have access to needed mental health care.”

Yale Educator Awardees
Har-Ber High School math teacher Travis Fink and counselor Seanne Farrar are recipients of the 2025 Yale Educator Award.
The award is presented by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions and recognizes outstanding educators from around the world who’ve supported and inspired first-year Yale students to achieve at high levels.
